Wild fans rejoiced in the summer of 2012 when the teamlanded veteran defenseman Ryan Suter, luring him away from the Nashville Predators with a 13-year contract.
But Nashville fans were apparently less than thrilled, having booed him mightily when he returned as a member of the Wild in March last season.
Now, as the Associated Press reports, Suter will be on the ice for his eighth home opener in Nashville, just not as a member of the Predators.
Sure, it hurts, Nashville, watching Suter nail a first-team NHL selection in his first season with the Wild.
Perhaps more importantly, the Wild are trying to avoid losing their first three games of the season, a dubious feat should it happen, as CBS Sports notes.
They allowed the tying score with less than eight minutes left in the third period and fell 3-2 in a shootout to Los Angeles on Thursday, then gave up a goal with 4.9 seconds remaining in overtime of a 4-3 loss to Anaheim on Saturday.
Nashville, meanwhile, hasn’t been so hot either. The Predators are on the verge of dropping their first three games for the first time since 2006, falling 4-2 to St. Louis on Thursday and 3-1 to Colorado the following night.
