The Minnesota Wild fell to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night, 3-2 in overtime.
A Joe Thornton’s second goal of the night put the game away for San Jose. The more disappointing part for the Wild was blowing an early two goal lead.
Minnesota took the early lead on a wrist shot from Matt Cooke, his eighth goal of the season.
In the second, Keith Ballard put the Wild up 2-0, he was assisted by Mikael Granlund and Jason Pominville.
Minnesota couldn’t hold the lead though, it slipped away on goals from Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau netted goals for the Sharks to even the score at 2.
Darcey Keumper stopped 29 shots, but the Wild were outshot 32-22 on the night.
Minnesota is back in action on Tuesday night against Anaheim.
