It’s been a long time coming for former All-Star Seimone Augustus, but she appears ready to make her season debut with the Minnesota Lynx in Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Dream.
Augustus has missed the entire season so far because of a knee injury, but the team has listed her “probable” for Tuesday night’s game in Atlanta. Will she play for sure? That’s yet to be determined, according to Lynx writer Julian Andrews.
“This is no guarantee that Augustus will play—she will have to see how she is feeling after shootaround. In situations like this it is important to be cautious and not rush back. However, it is nice to see Augustus taking another step towards a return.”
Augustus, a six-time All-Star, including in 2017 and 2018, is six points shy of moving into 10th place on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list. She has 5,836 career points and is set to pass Becky Hammon (5,841 points)
It’s not clear if Augustus will start or come off the bench when she returns, but her presence will be a big boost for a team plagued by injuries and fighting for a playoff spot.
Entering play Tuesday, Minnesota (10-11) is eighth in the WNBA and is in need of a victory to snap a four-game losing streak.
The Lynx and Dream tip off in Atlanta at 6 p.m.
