Brent Rooker has officially put pen to paper and signed his Major League contract with the Twins after they drafted him (for the second-straight year) 37th overall in the 2017 MLB Draft.
The Twins took Rooker at No. 35 in the 2016 draft, but the slugger decided to forgo the offer and return to Mississippi State for his junior year.
Rooker was a beast in the SEC, leading the conference in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs and total bases.
Normally, one player doesn't lead the SEC in 8 different hitting categories.

He hit .392 while leading all of NCAA Division I in doubles (30), slugging percentage (.858.) and OPS (1.371.). None of that College success would have happened if Rooker agreed to sign with the Twins the first time they draft him.
On Friday, the Twins announced Rooker has officially signed his contract.

In addition to inking Rooker, it appears the Twins may lock up another rookie draftee in the near future. The club surprised many by making Royce Lewis with the No. 1 overall pick. Sources tell GoMN that Lewis is expected to sign this weekend.
