Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday addressed a rumor about his sexuality during his radio show on ESPN Milwaukee.
“There’s always going to be silly stuff out there in the media that you can’t worry about,” Rodgers said. “I don’t.”
“I’m not gay. I really, really like women. That’s all I can really say about that,” he added.
As USA Today’s ForTheWin sports website puts it, “Rodgers has long kept his life away from football guarded, and he answered the allegation with brevity and a touch of incredulity.”
The rumor came to life just before Christmas when a report by TheFameDriven.com said Rodgers had a “falling out” with a man named Kevin Lanflisi over the summer. Other gossip-slinging websites amplified the rumor.
Pro Football Talk’s angle on the story isn’t that Rodgers “may be gay,” but that Rodgers took the time say he isn’t.
The topic came up during the radio show when Rodgers was talking about the highs and lows of being a celebrity, CBS Sports noted. One of the lows is that “Crazy rumors that swirl around you from time to time,” Rodgers said.
