The Minnesota Twins fell 11-7 in a wild, sometimes ugly game in Cincinnati Monday night.
The Reds pounded out 17 hits on their way to the victory. The two teams were running the bases all night, combining for eight stolen bases – four of them by Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton, who was 2-for-4 with three runs scored in addition to the stolen bases.

The Reds took the lead in the first inning by scoring three runs off Twins starter Mike Pelfrey (5-5). Pelfrey gave up one more in the second inning, then was taken out in the third inning, allowing another four runs.

Before the end of the third, the Reds led 9-1.
The Twins battled back with six runs in the top of the fourth, cutting Cincinnati’s lead down to two. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer from Brian Dozier.
Dozier finished 1-for-5 with three RBIs. Trevor Plouffe was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
But it wasn’t nearly enough to keep up with the Reds, who feasted on Twins pitching all night. Tucker Barnhart led the way for Cincinnati. He was 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Jay Bruce was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Reds reliever Nate Adcock picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief of starter Mike Leake, who gave up seven runs in four innings. Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the ninth to close out the victory.
Phil Hughes (6-6) starts for the Twins on Tuesday evening. Anthony DeSclafani (5-5) will get the nod for Cincinnati.
