A retired Texas judge has denied a request to remove the judge assigned to Adrian Peterson’s child abuse case. Former Tarrant County Judge Jeff Walker issued the ruling Wednesday afternoon.

Prosecutors brought the motion to recuse Judge Kelly Case, accusing him of being biased against them after they claimed Case referred to attorneys on both sides of the case as “media whores.”

Case later recanted the statement.
Peterson’s attorney Rusty Hardin argued against Case’s recusal, saying the prosecution’s claims were based on conjecture.
Peterson is charged with reckless or negligent injury to a child, after he said he used a wooden switch to discipline his 4-year-old son. The Vikings have placed Peterson on leave until after his legal situation is settled.
The ruling means that Peterson’s Dec. 1 trial date is still on schedule.
According to WCCO, the next order of business in Peterson’s legal battle will be to decide if the former MVP should be arrested again. Another prosecution motion to revoke Peterson’s bond for alleged marijuana use has been on hold until after Case’s issue had been settled.
Prosecutors say Peterson violated terms of his $15,000 bond when he admitted to a court worker, who was administering a drug test that he had “smoked a little weed.”
