The clock is ticking on Kyle Sloter’s career with the Vikings, as multiple reports say Minnesota will release the fan favorite quarterback if they can’t find a trade partner before Saturday’s 3 p.m. deadline to trim rosters to 53 players.
Kirk Cousins is the starting quarterback for the Vikings, and many figured Sloter had a fighting chance to unseat veteran Sean Mannion as the backup to Cousins. That apparently isn’t the case, despite Sloter putting up impressive numbers this preseason.
Unless the Vikings are able to trade Kyle Sloter by the 3 p.m. deadline, he will be released and head to waivers. Not surprising given everything I've been hearing on the split decision w/ the QB room, but Minnesota keeping 2 QBs was expected for awhile now.

ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reports that the Vikings have released undrafted rookie free agent Jake Browning, but they’re hopeful they’ll be able to sign him to the practice squad.
We’ll have more Vikings coverage as the roster is trimmed to 53.
