Former Robbinsdale Cooper guard Rashad Vaughn, finishing up his high school basketball career at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, announced this evening on CBS Sports Network that he will be staying in the desert to play his college basketball at UNLV.
Vaughn reportedly had his options narrowed to Iowa State and the Runnin’ Rebels, and reports came out prior to the announcement that Vaughn would stay out west after transferring to the Vegas prep school this summer, and play his college ball at Nevada-Las Vegas.
Those reports proved to be true just hours later.

The No. 7 recruit in the nation according to the scouting service Rivals, Vaughn eliminated the University of Minnesota from his list of college options at the end of 2013, leaving the Gophers with zero recruits out of the state’s “Big 3”.
Recent minor developments indicated the Vaughn could pull an upset and shock the college basketball world by choosing Minnesota, but those were mostly hopeful and baseless.
UNLV has made the NCAA tournament each of the last four seasons, eliminated in the first-round each year.
