The Twins have agreed to a deal with free-agent slugger Nelson Cruz, according to multiple reports.

Cruz, 38, has been an All-Star five times in the last six seasons and he is coming off another fantastic season with the Mariners in 2018. He hit .256 with a an .850 OPS (that’s good) and knocked 37 home runs with 18 doubles and 97 RBI.
ESPN’s Enrique Rojas reports that the deal is worth $14 million for the 2019 season and includes a team option for $12 million 2020.
Cruz is a lock to start the season as the designated hitter for the Twins. According to Twins Daily, Cruz has only played in the field when against National League teams over the last few seasons.
The right-handed power hitter has at least 37 homers and 93 RBI in each of his last five seasons.
