The MLB trade deadline is now less than 20 days away and the rumors are starting to swirl about the Twins as they remain on the outside of the playoff race looking in, making them a good candidate to trade players with expiring contracts within the next few weeks.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Milwaukee Brewers have reached out to the Twins about infielders Brian Dozier and Eduardo Escobar.

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that Dozier might be the fallback plan for teams that don’t get Orioles star shortstop Manny Machado in a trade. The teams vying for Machado, per Crasnick, are the Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Brewers.
The good news for the Twins is that if they do decide to deal Dozier, he’s finally heating up at the plate, which might force teams to pay a little extra for him, which was becoming concerning as his typical April-June slump lasted into July.
Dozier had three hits in Wednesday’s win over the Royals, and over his last six games he’s hitting .391 with three home runs.
