Another day and another report that their is a real possibility the Wolves trade Karl-Anthony Towns this summer.
On Monday, it was ESPN’s Amin Elhassen who said Towns to the Suns for the No. 1 pick in the draft is a realistic scenario that could unfold within the next month. Now, on Tuesday, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst elaborated on his words from last week that started the Towns firestorm.
“Let’s just put it this way: I didn’t make this up. People in the league have been saying, ‘You know, maybe we should call and take a look and see what’s going on with Karl Towns.’ Now, he and Tom Thibodeau did not have the greatest season together. I think that’s fair to say.
“I don’t think that the Wolves are looking to trade him, but teams are definitely sniffing around as if maybe there’s something here.”
Windhorst noted that Minnesota has already taken calls on Towns and there will be more calls coming.

It was Windhorst who got the snowball going downhill when he said Towns and the Wolves have some internal problems.
But at this point, the only rumored possible deal is the Suns send the first pick in the June 23 NBA Draft to the Wolves for their 22-year-old superstar.
Jalen Rose, on ESPN, said it would be a bad deal for Minnesota, and ESPN’s Mike Greenberg chimed in saying the Wolves will spend the next 15 years regretting it if they trade Towns.
As Pro Basketball Talk points out, Minnesota could try to settle any internal angst by offering Towns a projected five-year, $157 million max extension. But money alone might not fix the reported chemistry problem Towns and Thibodeau have, if that is in fact the current situation.
