Williams went undrafted about of North Carolina State in 2012 and spent the next five years playing in the G-League and overseas. He got his first shot in the NBA with the Clippers when Blake Griffin got injured early last season.
In 38 games, including 17 starts, Williams averaged a modest 5.5 points while making 44.2 percent of his shots. It’s not a big sample size, but for a supposed “3 and D” guy, Williams made just 22 of 78 threes (28.2 percent) last season.
He was much more productive in the G-League, averaging 16.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and he shot just under 38 percent on 3-pointers.
Each NBA teams is allowed to sign two players to two-way contracts, that allow them to be play in the G-League and the NBA. Jared Terrell, a rookie guard out of Rhode Island, signed the first two-way contract with the Wolves.
