In an effort to clear up salary cap space, the Wild put defenseman Tom Gilbert on unconditional waivers, according to the Star Tribune’s Michael Russo.
When he clears, the team will then reportedly buy out the remaining year of his contract.
Gilbert, a Bloomington native, joined the Wild in February of 2012 in a trade with Edmonton in exchange for Nick Schultz.
Last year, Gilbert scored three goals, with 10 assists.
He’s set to make $3 million this coming season.
