Free agent wide receiver Michael Floyd is looking for a new team this offseason.
The former Cretin-Derham Hall standout who played for the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals last season was cut by Arizona after being charged with his third DUI since 2011.
He played sparingly with the Patriots but it doesn’t look like New England is too serious about bringing him back.
However according to Darren Wolfson of 1500-ESPN, his hometown Minnesota Vikings have done their “due diligence” on the free agent.
“The Vikings are highly, highly interested in Michael Floyd,” Wolfson said on his latest podcast. “There’s a good chance with his DUI history he’ll have to serve some kind of suspension to start the year but he can play.”
Wolfson also noted the Washington Redskins are interested, but the suspension shouldn’t be a lengthy one. The former first-round pick should be able to play in at least 12 games.
Floyd is currently serving time after pleading guilty to an extreme DUI charge. He’ll spend the first 24 days in Maricopa County Jail in Arizona and then will spend another 96 days on house arrest.
