The Vikings swung a deal with the Ravens on Sunday sending a fifth-round pick to Baltimore for kicker Kaare Vedvik, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter notes that Vedvik could also end up being the Vikings punter too.
Vedvik will now compete with fellow kicker Dan Bailey for the job and he probably has the leg up on the competition considering Minnesota surrendered a fifth-round pick for him, which is something teams rarely do.

Bailey was signed by the Vikings before Week 3 of last season after rookie Daniel Carlson was cut after a horrendous game against the Green Bay Packers.
However, Bailey only made 75 percent of his field-goal attempts (21/28) in 2018 and it doesn’t help that head coach Mike Zimmer has always been harsh on kickers.
Vedvik was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent last year but didn’t appear in a game and was placed the non-football injury list after he was assaulted in Fells Point, Maryland shortly before the season began.
He also nailed a 55-yard field goal in Baltimore’s preseason opener against the Jaguars.

The Vikings played their first preseason game last Friday, Aug. 9 against the New Orleans Saints.
Minnesota opens the regular season on Sept. 8 at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons.
