The Minnesota Twins have reportedly upgraded the back end of their contract, reportedly agreeing to a deal with reliever Alex Colome. According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the deal is for one year and worth $6.25 million. The deal will also carry an option for 2022.
Colome is a 32-year-old reliever, who spent the past two seasons with the Chicago White Sox. During his time in Chicago, Colome posted a 2.27 ERA and 42 saves in 83 appearances but became available when the White Sox signed Liam Hendriks to a three-year, $54 million contract to become their closer last month.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Colome will become the team’s new closer, which should push Taylor Rogers and Tyler Duffey into set up roles. With new addition Hansel Robles also having experience closing out games, the Twins bullpen seems to be set heading into 2021.
