Make room for someone else at third base because the Twins have waived Trevor Plouffe, according to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press. Go Sports has confirmed the report.
If Plouffe clears waivers he’ll become a free agent on Saturday.
3B Trevor Plouffe has been placed on outright waivers, per person w/direct knowledge. Expected to clear today and become FA. #mntwins

Plouffe improved slightly every season from 2012-2014 before injuries limited him to 84 games this past season. He finished with a .260 batting average, 12 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Miguel Sano appears to be the likely everyday third baseman in 2017.
The Twins also waived catcher Juan Centeno and minor league slugger Adam Brett Walker. Walker has already been claimed by the Brewers.
