Peterson told Josina Anderson of ESPN that signing with the Saints, “just felt right within my spirit.”
Pro Football Talk notes the contract is worth $7 million. Peterson will earn $3.5 million in guaranteed money in 2017. His base salary is $1 million with a signing bonus of $2.5 million.
He has a 2018 option for $3.5 million in non-guaranteed money.
The 32-year-old running back spent 10 seasons with the Vikings and is the team’s all-time leading rusher. He played in just three games last season after dealing with a meniscus tear rushing for a career-low 72 yards.
