Leslie Frazier’s search for a new job may not last very long.
Ben Goessling of ESPN.com reported late Wednesday night that Frazier could land on his feet as the next defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Per the report, the job could also go to Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.
Frazier may have dropped a hint that he would get a new job quickly when he chatted with the Pioneer Press in a phone interview on Tuesday.
“I should learn something in the next few days and have an idea of where things are heading,” he said.
Frazier was fired by the Vikings on Monday following the final game of a 5-10-1 season, but it’s pretty clear that it didn’t take long for Frazier’s phone to ring.
If Frazier gets the job in Tampa, he’ll team up with Lovie Smith, who is finalizing a deal to become the Buccaneers new head coach, according to USA Today.
Smith was the head coach of the Chicago Bears from 2004-2012.
It looks clear, at this point, that Frazier’s next job will be as a defensive coordinator, where he’ll have to continue to prove to his doubters that the Cover-2 scheme isn’t outdated in the NFL.
