Washburn High School standout and former Gophers recruit Jeff Jones was charged for felony drug possession on Friday, according to the Star Tribune.
The report said Jones was stopped in Bloomington for speeding but the officer found that Jones had no driver’s license – and a warrant for a felony drug charge in Iowa.
According to Hennepin County jail, Jones was charged with a possession of a controlled substance in Bloomington.
Jones was a four-star recruit out of high school but played sparingly this year, mostly on special teams. He left the U of M because of academic troubles and transferred to Iowa Western Community College.
Iowa Western coach Scott Strohmeier said Jones was dismissed from the football team in April.
