Michael Floyd’s kombucha hiccup could extended his expected suspension for more than half of the season.
According to Pro Football Talk, Floyd is facing a minimum of a two-game suspension as a result of his DUI arrest in Arizona last year. And it’s possible that Floyd gets slapped with an additional eight-game suspension if the league considers Floyd’s positive alcohol test while on house arrest a second offense.
What Commissioner Roger Goodell decides in terms of that is unknown, but Goodell does have the right to increase Floyd’s suspension because Floyd’s breath test came in at .217%, which is above the NFL’s threshold of .15% for increasing a penalty.
Floyd served one day in jail earlier this week after a judge didn’t buy into Floyd and the Vikings’ claim that he tested positive for alcohol use while on house arrest after drinking bottles of kombucha tea with tight end Kyle Rudolph.
The Vikings report to training camp late next month and Floyd is expected to arrive with the rest of the team.
