Former Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is still waiting for a team to call him.
Based on a report from Sirius XM’s Craig Mish, the Dolphins would’ve called Ponder had ex-Bears quarterback Jay Cutler not agreed to come out of the woodwork to replace an injured Ryan Tannehill in Miami.
Source : Kaepernick never seriously considered, or contacted. Had Cutler not signed team would have turned to Christian Ponder.

But it gets weird when you see that Mish claims the Dolphins would’ve tried to sign Ponder over Colin Kaepernick, who remains in NFL exile.
Vikings fans understand why that makes zero sense, but other reports suggest the Dolphins were considering more options, including Teddy Bridgewater, who’s on the Vikings’ active/physically unable to perform list.

It’s unclear if Kaepernick’s play or political views are the reason why he isn’t signed as a starter or backup right now. He’s been the center of debate for about a year since he started taking a knee during the national anthem to boycott police brutality in America.
Kaepernick threw for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 12 games with the 49ers last season. Ponder hasn’t thrown a pass in a regular season game since doing so with the Vikings in 2014.
