The Minnesota Vikings and Danielle Hunter have agreed to a deal that will keep the star pass rusher in Minnesota for another season.
The Vikings have confirmed the news first reported by NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reports that Hunter has agreed to a new one-year deal worth $20 million.
It will see Hunter get $17 million and will include a “no tag clause.”

It will ensure the Vikings keep a crucial part of the defense for the 2023 season, while also giving Hunter a chance to earn a lucrative contract next season when he becomes a free agent.
It comes after ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler had reported on Saturday that the Vikings could make Hunter available for a trade ahead of the new season “in light of his ongoing unhappiness with his contract.”
Hunter skipped OTAs and minicamp and although he had reported for training camp, he did not practice this week, making him a camp “hold in.”
He was due to make $4.9 million this season, well below market value. He is fresh off a healthy 2022 season in which he produced 10.5 sacks while switching to an outside linebacker role for the first time in his career.
“There were calls from teams interested in trading for Hunter,” NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted. “But the top option for coach Kevin O’Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was keeping him.”
