Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook received some good news on Monday as the groin injury he suffered against the Seattle Seahawks is not a major one according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Cook left Sunday’s game in the third quarter when he pulled up on a sweep to the left sideline. The Vikings star went out of bounds immediately and was taken to the locker room.
Although he appeared for another play later in the game, he was taken out and replaced by Alexander Mattison.
With Cook’s injury not deemed major, the question is if he’ll miss any time. In Pelissero’s report, he mentioned the Vikings could take it easy with Cook considering Minnesota hosts the 0-5 Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
The Vikings have played their injuries close to the vest this season as a similar tweak turned into a major injury for Danielle Hunter. With rumors that Hunter is dealing with a neck injury, the Vikings have not confirmed his status as he has missed the first five games.
For now, things seem positive for Cook as head coach Mike Zimmer said that his MRI “went pretty well” during his Monday press conference. It remains to be seen if that translates to a quick return.
