Intriguing 2015 prospect Kevin Dorsey will be heading to the Gophers, according to tweets from Alex Kline and Adam Zagoria, who say Dorsey committed to Rich Pitino and the University of Minnesota Saturday.
Dorsey is listed at 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, and plays point guard at Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Virginia. He’s listed as a four-star recruit, 84th overall for the class of 2015 by Yahoo Sports. ESPN grades him as a three-star player, and does not list him in the top 100.
Terrapin Station MD reported earlier this week Dorsey had narrowed his choice to a final three: Minnesota, Maryland and Nebraska. They wrote the following about his playing style.
Dorsey is great at creating his own shot, whether it’s a pull-up shot or driving through the defense. He is a score-first, pass-second point guard that can blow past the defense with his quickness, providing a spark on offense. However, a big part of his game is on the defensive side. As Dorsey uses his quickness to hurt his defenders, his tenacity puts pressure on his opposition to force turnovers.
Both Zagoria and Kline seemed impressed with the commitment

According to Yahoo Sports, Dorsey is the Gopher’s first 2015 commit.
Pitino has landed five recruits for the 2014 season, including the 6-foot-9 forward from Senegal Gaston Louis Diedhiou, who is currently playing in Spain.
