Apple Valley point guard Tyus Jones could announce where he plans on playing his college basketball as soon as November. Regardless of when he picks his school, it’s almost a certainty that he and fellow top recruit Jahlil Okafor will be going to the same place.
Eric Bossi of Rivals caught up with Jones to talk about what the five-star recruit likes about Baylor, Duke, Kansas and Minnesota.
When asked about the possibility of he and Okafor signing with the same schook, Jones said “it’s gonna happen” and added that it’s “extremely important.” Watch the video of the interview here.
Jones is rated the No. 4 overall player in the ESPN class of 2014. Okafor is the No. 1 overall player. The package deal is going to give one team a chance to become an immediate contender.
Okafor’s father told ESPN on Sunday that Baylor, Duke, Kansas and Kentucky have the best chance of landing his son.
Okafor has never had the Gophers on his list of possible landing spots, and Jones recently cancelled a visit to Kentucky. Simple logic says the leading candidates to land the dynamic duo are Duke, Kansas and Baylor.
Back in August, Okafor’s AAU coach told CBS Sports that Duke was probably the leading candidate.
