The Minnesota Wild continued their struggles Thursday night, losing to the New York Rangers 4-2 at Madison Square Garden. It was the Wild’s ninth loss in the their last 10 games.
1. Minnesotans keep hurting the Wild
Tuesday night, the Islanders had all four of their Minnesota natives tally at least one point. Thursday it was Minnesotan Ryan McDonagh, who did in the Wild.
The St. Paul native finished with a goal and an assist in the Rangers victory.

2. Second period struggles
Minnesota was bad in the second period for the second night in a row. The Wild coughed up a two-goal lead in a matter of 80 seconds.
McDonagh put the Rangers on the scoreboard with his seventh goal of the season, cutting the Minnesota lead to 2-1. Just over a minute later the game was tied on J.T. Miller’s 16th goal of the year and his eighth goal in as many games.

3. Wild offense sputtering
While Minnesota looked to be clicking early with a pair of quick goals, the Wild sputtered the rest of the night.
After Ryan Carter and Matt Dumba put the Wild up 2-0, Minnesota struggled to make much of anything happen. They finished the night being dramatically outshot by the Rangers 30-18.
