The Minnesota Twins’ somewhat-surprising April already features series wins against 2012 playoff teams Detroit and Baltimore.
Tonight, another playoff team rolls into town. Ron Washington’s Texas Rangers (14-7) are at Target Field for a four-game series. Make that the red-hot Texas Rangers.
In the past six games, Texas has gone 5-1, outscoring their opponents 45-17. Ranger pitchers have posted a 2.28 ERA, striking out 61 batters. That was all on the road, in Seattle and Los Angeles.
The Rangers wind up their road trip with the Twins, a team they took nine of 11 from last year.
The Twins (9-8) had a five-game winning streak snapped by the Marlins Tuesday night, but hope to get back on track behind starter Vance Worley (0-2, 7.11 ERA). Worley had a rough start to the season — but was much better last Saturday in Chicago, giving up just one run in seven innings.
Rookie Nick Tepesch (1-1, 3.07) starts for the Rangers tonight.
