The Twins lost to the Rangers, 4-3 Friday night at Target Field.
Texas starter Justin Grimm held to the Twins to five hits over eight strong innings to earn the win. Scott Diamond gave up three runs over 6.1 innings and took the loss.
Lance Berkman and Nelson Cruz each ripped RBI doubles in the first inning to put Texas up early, 2-0.
Adrian Beltre put the Twins up 3-0 with a 419 foot home run off the batter’s eye in center field in the sixth inning.
Leading 4-0 in the ninth, Twins rookie Oswaldo Arcia hit a line drive three-run home run over the wall in right to cut the lead to one, but Ryan Doumit lined out to center to end the game.
Arcia hit his home run off of former Twins closer Joe Nathan.
The Twins fall to 9-10 on the season with the loss. The Rangers improve to a Major League Baseball best 16-7.
