Bob Kurtz, the play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Wild will not be part of the team’s broadcasts this week as he takes time to get checked out for an irregular heartbeat.
The Wild’s public relations staff announced late Sunday night that Kurtz didn’t make the trip to Nashville for Monday night’s game, staying back in Minnesota where he’ll undergo a procedure for an irregular heartbeat.
Kurtz won’t do play-by-play for Tuesday’s home game against the Arizona Coyotes nor will he broadcast Friday’s game in Dallas. He should be back on lead vocals for Saturday’s home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Kurtz missed the season opening broadcast in Colorado for the same issue, but Kevin Falness, who will take over play-by-play duties in his place, says Kurtz is in good spirits and is simply “trying to get this handled.”
Falness has been the long-time studio host of Wild games, leading the way during pregame, intermissions and postgame portions of each broadcast. He’ll do both jobs while Kurtz is out while Chris Carpenter will provide scoreboard updates.
Wild games are broadcast on the radio on FM 100.3 KFAN.
