Despite near–universal praise for picking USC receiver Jordan Addison at 23 it seems there’s at least one person who doesn’t think highly of the selection.
Pro Football Talk’s Chris Simms was a guest on The Dan Patrick Show Monday morning and was asked by Patrick for the team that had the worst draft pick.
After Patrick suggested the Detroit Lions’ first round selections, Simms instead turned his focus to the Vikings, saying: “I don’t love Jordan Addison to the Vikings in the 20s. That would be one where I go, ‘That’s way too early for me.'”
You can see Simms talk the Vikings at 13:20 in the following video:
“Jordan Addison is a good route runner but, I mean, plays after the catch and things like that. That’s one that confuses me.”
Simms then went on to defend the Lions picking a running back and linebacker with their two first round selections.
The Vikings have had middling grades from the experts for their 2023 draft, though it was difficult for them to get anything better than a “B” given they started with only five picks, and only added one more (plus a 2024 pick) through trades.
Most experts approve of the decision to take Addison, though there were some suggestions the Vikings were reaching when they selected cornerback Mekhi Blackmon at Pick 102.
