Vikings rookie cornerback Josh Robinson, taken in the third round, appeared to injure his hamstring during Friday’s first full practice of training camp. He wasn’t able to participate in the second half of the practice. It could be bad news for the Vikings, who are counting on Robinson to play a big role in their secondary.
Bring Me The News and KFAN’s Joe Nelson was at the practice and took notice of a very accurate Christian Ponder, an athletic Jerome Simpson and violent approach by the Vikings’ offensive line.
With Adrian Peterson on the PUP list, the Vikings are relying on Toby Gerhart to carry the load as the No. 1 running back. Gerhart says he’s looking at like a “big opportunity” to show what he can do.
The Vikings might be a dismal 9-23 over the last two seasons, but head coach Leslie Frazier has a message for the team: “If you don’t believe we have a chance to compete in our division or win our division, why are we even showing up in Mankato?”
Jared Allen is on the same page. “I’m not in this to rebuild,” he said. “I’m in this every year to compete for a championship.” Allen still feels like he’s playing at a high level, but he’s not sure how much longer he has left in his career.
Allen didn’t seem frustrated as much as he was anxious to win a Super Bowl. Whatever is driving the 30 year old, well… rookie left tackle Matt Kalil is going to have to deal with it on a daily basis.
