The Vikings are one game behind the Packers and Bears for first place in the NFC North, which is why Christian Ponder thinks this week’s game in Chicago is the “most important” game of his career. Ponder told play-by-play guy Paul Allen that the Vikings are ready for the stretch run and an opportunity to win the division.

Former Viking great Fran Tarkenton is hoping Bears quarterback Jay Cutler takes one more week off to recover from a concussion, “not only for his own health, but because the Vikings are catching the Bears at just the right time.” If Cutler doesn’t play, backup Jason Campbell likely will. Tarkenton says Campbell “does not have what it takes.”
The Vikings and Bears do have one thing in common, and that’s being incredibly inconsistent on offense. The Bears have scored a total of 13 points over the last two weeks. The Vikings put up 34 points in their last game against Detroit, and to keep the offense clicking Ponder says he needs to continue throwing the ball with “conviction.”
