After being rejected too many times by higher profile recruits, Richard Pitino has finally landed his first recruit of the 2014 class.
His name is Josh Martin, a power forward from Seattle, Washington.
“I hope they (Minnesota fans) are [excited],” Martin told the Star Tribune. “I’m going to try to be the first big recruit in the Pitino era.”
He’s definitely big. The 6-foot-8, 215 pound Martin picked the Gophers over Florida State and Pittsburgh.
Nice first pickup for @MNCoachPitino with Seattle 2014 PF Josh Martin, who picked #Gophers over Florida St and Pittsburgh.

Martin also received scholarship offers from UCLA, Oklahoma State, Washington, Washington State, California and Gonzaga.
