Leslie Frazier met with reporters on Monday and he said wide receiver Percy Harvin “should be” back with the Vikings next season. Harvin, who has one year remaining on his contract, missed the final eight games of the season after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
The Vikings have ten players on the roster entering the off-season as unrestricted free agents. Phil Loadholt is one of them. He started all 16 games for the third consecutive year, and running back Adrian Peterson wants him back next season. Peterson says he’ll probably talk to the decision-makers about the importance of re-signing him.
A player Peterson says he doesn’t need to put a good word in for is fullback Jerome Felton. Felton earned a trip to the Pro Bowl as the lead blocker for the NFL’s leading rusher.
Peterson plans to play hard at the Pro Bowl this year. The game, featuring the best players in the NFL, has been under scrutiny for years because players tend to take it easy during the game. Peterson, however, says he doesn’t care how anyone else approaches the game — he’s going to play hard.
Defensive tackle Kevin Williams says he wants to play a “few more years” and he’s hoping to do so in Minnesota. The Vikings have an option on Williams for the next two years worth $16.7 million. They can either pick it up, restructure his contract or let him test the free agent market.
