Adrian Peterson spent the Saturday before the Vikings game against the Bears two weeks ago with a young boy from Michigan in need of a heart transplant. Anthony Chartier talked, played catch and got to know Peterson through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Peterson promised him a touchdown or two, and he came through. See the video here.
Peterson is the 2012 winner of the Vikings’ Ed Block Courage award, the team announced Monday. The award, voted on by the players, goes to a member of the team that overcomes great adversity. The Vikings have named a winner every year since 1984.
Meanwhile, Peterson recently donated $50,000 to the disaster response veteran service organization, Team Rubicon. The group, made up of military members, serves provides relief to natural disaster locations and areas of crisis around the world. The group’s president says Peterson’s donation will allow them to provide relief sooner for future disasters.
