Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson’s first court appearance on a child abuse charge has been pushed back to October.
Peterson was indicted in Texas last week for reckless or negligent injury to a child. He’s accused of hurting his 4-year-old son by hitting him with a thin tree branch.
Peterson was initially scheduled to appear on Wednesday, but the hearing has been pushed back to Oct. 8.

Peterson was benched Sunday in the Vikings 30-7 loss to the New England Patriots. The team announced Monday morning that they had reinstated him for the upcoming week. He’s expected to play at New Orleans Sunday.
The NFL hasn’t punished Peterson.
The legal process for the case could take months or longer, Sports Illustrated says.
