Adrian Peterson’s peers believe he is the fourth-best player in the NFL.
Peterson came in with a No. 4 ranking on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2014. The top 10 were unveiled Wednesday night. It’s a tremendous finish considering Peterson battled injuries in a bit of a down season, although he still rushed for more than 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Peterson’s 2,097 yards in 2012, the year he was named NFL MVP, garnered him even more respect from his peers, fueling him to the top spot in NFL Network’s rankings last year.
The top spot this year belongs to Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson came in at No. 2 and Tom Brady was third.
Peterson told reporters last month that he should be No. 1 on the list again, although he knew Manning’s monster season would take home the top spot, according to the Pioneer Press.
Fox Sports North used the highest running back ranking for Peterson as ammunition to, in a way, finish off the offseason debate about who the better back is: Peterson or LeSean McCoy of the Eagles.
It turns out NFL players agree with Adrian Peterson more than LeSean McCoy when it comes to who is the best running back in the NFL.
McCoy was ranked fifth-best, just one spot behind Peterson. The rest of the top 10 was rounded out with Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman, Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, Bengals receiver A.J. Green and Saints tight end Jimmy Graham.
Peterson was the only current Viking to make the top 100 list. Former Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen, now with the Chicago Bears, was ranked No. 68.
The Vikings report to training camp in Mankato two weeks from today.
