Adrian Peterson has had a brutally difficult week, and it came to an unceremonious conclusion today, in what could easily be described as the least important thing he’s dealt with the last few days, a 35-10 loss to Carolina at the Metrodome.
Before and after the game, Peterson had more to say about his family situation than in previous days, beginning with a text conversation with Laura Okmin of FOX Sports prior to the contest.
“I’m still hurt and feel the pain of life, but I’m able to function because of the peace and joy of knowing my loved ones are in a much better place.”

After the game, Peterson declined to get into his son’s death when the media gathered to speak with him, saying “we just got blown out by 25, let’s just focus on football.”
He did, however, speak with Josina Anderson of ESPN, and opened up a bit more on the subject.
“I was set on it (playing today), I just look at things and I don’t ask people to understand my mindset and how I think.”
As for his message to the team before the game?
“I just kept it simple, I’m going out there four four quarters to give it my all, I expect you guys to do the same.”
Kyle Rudolph said of the message: “For a guy like that, how could you not?”
A perfect example of the camaraderie Peterson said helped him through this tough time when he returned to the team.
