The Vikings held running back Adrian Peterson (sprained foot) out of practice Thursday for precautionary reasons, but he should be on the field when the Vikings visit the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sunday.
Head coach Leslie Frazier was encouraged by Peterson’s ability to move around on his injured ankle during Wednesday’s practice so he wasn’t too concerned about holding him out Thursday.
“I think based on what we saw yesterday, we should be fine,” Frazier said, via the Pioneer Press. “Just wanted to be smart with him and get him back out here (Friday). Unless something comes up that I don’t foresee, he should be ready to go on Sunday.”
The news isn’t as positive for John Carlson (concussion). The tight end from Litchfield, Minnesota will have to clear more concussion tests after suffering a setback.
“We held [Carlson] out [Thursday] as well, thought it was the best thing. He wasn’t feeling well,” coach Leslie Frazier said. “He’ll have some things he has to clear to come back tomorrow.”
Carlson suffered a concussion two weeks ago in the Vikings’ loss at Baltimore.
Frazier, according to 1500 ESPN, said cornerback Xavier Rhodes (sprained ankle) is doing better, but not to the point where he’s been cleared to practice.
