Monday Morning Quarterback’s Peter King says Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford is his favorite to win the NFL MVP award.
“Normally I wouldn’t want to name a player who missed a quarter of his team’s games the MVP,” said King. “But I will make an exception for Sam Bradford.”
Bradford didn’t start the regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans because he was acquired just eight days before, and still was learning the team’s playbook.
In three games this season, Bradford has snagged wins against Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newtown and Eli Manning. Those three three quarterbacks have combined for four Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl MVPs.
After losing presumed starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater before the season, and then losing Adrian Peterson and Matt Kalil to injuries in week two, Bradford has helped the Vikings to perfect a 4-0 record.
The former No. 1 pick has posted his best completion percentage and passer rating in his career this season. Here’s what King writes:
“The MVP, I think, should never be determined on numbers alone — though they help. The MVP should be about the player who means the most to a very good team, and without whom that team would be just another team. Bradford has lifted the Vikings to a point where they believe that without their three leading men they can still win the Super Bowl. And there is tremendous value in that.”
