The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Twins 9-4 during the first game of a split doubleheader on Wednesday at Target Field.
It was another disappointing start for Twins pitcher Mike Pelfrey (0-3). He lasted just four innings and gave up five runs on seven hits.

Pelfrey yet to pitch more than 5 1/3 innings in any outing this season.
Pelfrey’s struggles have been especially noticeable at home, where he has won just two games since the Twins added him prior to the start of last season.

Samuel Deduno and Jared Burton threw relief for Minnesota.
It didn’t matter who the Twins pitcher was, Minnesota couldn’t get Yasil Puig out. He tied a career-best with a 4 for 4 afternoon. Puig also drove in a pair of runs.
Juan Uribe also had a four hit day for the Dodgers. Uribe was 4-5 and drove in and scored two runs.
Brian Dozier was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Jason Kubel was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Pelfrey was unable to hold the lead as he gave up three to the Dodgers at the top of the second inning.
Los Angeles added to the lead in the third when they scored two more runs to push it to 5-2.
The run support was more than enough for Dan Haren (4-0). The Dodgers starter picked up the win after hold the Twins to three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings.
The Twins tried to rally in the fifth, but a line drive off the bat was right at Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez. Ramirez made the play and flipped to Dee Gordon at second base to narrowly double off Dozier. The play killed what could have been a big inning for Minnesota, who had already scored two runs in the fifth.
LA then put the game out of reach in the seventh when they added three more runs.
