Packers fans probably loved reading the verbal beating NFL scouts and personnel put on the Vikings today in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Bog McGinn wrote the story, and he has the following quotes from unnamed sources ripping into the Vikings.
VERBAL BEATING NO. 1
“Here’s where we find out if Minnesota has any pride left at all,” an executive in personnel for an AFC team said. “If they don’t show signs of life in this game then there’s no need trying to resuscitate this entire organization.”
VERBAL BEATING NO. 2
“You talk about a team in turmoil….I mean, that was horrible last night,” another personnel man said Tuesday. “Freeman had no idea, but he didn’t do a whole lot lately at Tampa Bay, either. They’re probably looking at 4-12, 5-11. There is enough there to win seven, eight games if they could get a passing game going. But with this on-the-job training it could take him a few weeks to play himself into the scheme.”
VERBAL BEATING NO. 3
“The Giants beat them by 16 points and Eli Manning is terrible, and Aaron Rodgers is one of the two or three best quarterbacks in the league,” an NFC scout said. “I’m sure the Packers will cover pretty easily. To throw 53 times is mind-boggling. Freeman is inconsistent, not accurate and doesn’t have any poise. The guy is not a good quarterback. Same guy he was in college. If they got any chance they’ve just got to pound (Adrian) Peterson no matter what.”
VERBAL BEATING NO. 4
“I see a house-cleaning there but there’s no reason to take Leslie out during the season,” one personnel man said. “He isn’t the type of guy that rubs people the wrong way. He’s a pro. No way they hand it over to (Mike) Singletary. There’s no head coaches on my list in that building.”
Ouch. None of those were very nice. Probably true, but not nice at all. Check out the Vikings-Packers game preview here.
