Indiana Pacers –102
Minnesota Timberwolves – 88
1) Wolves get crushed in 4th quarter
The Timberwolves actually led heading into the fourth quarter 68-66 – not by a lot, but a margin nonetheless. Then the Pacers (17-12) came out in the final frame and dominated, outscoring Minnesota 36-20 on the way to the victory.
2) ‘Monta Ellis have it all’ in the 4th quarter
Monta Ellis, who once confidently declared “Monta Ellis have it all” in an interview, scored 22 points for the Indiana Pacers – including 7 in the fourth quarter that helped his team come back. Former Timberwolf Chase Budinger also had 7 points in the fourth.
3) Solid performances from Towns, Rubio go to waste
Timberwolves rookie center Karl-Anthony Towns had a game-high 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting, while also pulling down 8 rebounds. He’s now scored at least 24 points in four of his last six games. And Ricky Rubio, known for being a low-percentage shooter, actually put together a nice offensive game, scoring 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting. He also racked up 9 assists.
Tweet of the night
Hard to believe the #Twolves led by two after the 3rd quarter. Outscored by 16 in the 4th. Damn.
