Tommy Tuberville won’t be on the sidelines to coach Texas Tech when the team takes on the Gophers in the Meineke Car Care Bowl — he’s left the team, The Associated Press reports.
Tuberville resigned from the Big 12 team Saturday to fill the head coach position in Cincinnati left vacant by Butch Jones, who in turn left for a head coaching job in Tennessee.
Tuberville was 20-17 in three seasons with Texas Tech, who went 7-5 this year.
The Gophers, who went 6-6 this season, will take on Texas Tech on Dec. 28 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
