In one of the coldest Opening Day games in Twins history, Minnesota and Detroit locked up at Target Field Monday. The 2013 season is underway.
Hall of famer Rod Carew raised the U.S. flag before the game.

1st inning:
Watching the game under heat lamps was a popular option.
2nd inning:
Trying to stay warm in the Twins bullpen.
3rd inning:
Left field, 13th row, third deck. Possibly the coldest spot in the stadium with winds at 10 mph. Just a handful of fans on the top row from foul pole to foul pole.
4th inning:
It’s at least 20 degrees warmer in the sun-splashed Budweiser zone.
5th inning:
Right field. Crowd in shade dwindling, but hearty.
6th inning:
Third deck gelato stand? Very lonely.
7th inning:
Center field … Sunny, but still parka and blanket territory
8th inning:
Hot beverage line in right field, third deck. Still brisk.
9th inning:
Q: “How many ($45) Super Soft Sherpa Throw Twins blankets have you sold today?
A: “I can’t count that high!”
