Eduardo Nunez will get his first shot to join the Minnesota Twins.
According to the Pioneer Press, the Twins will call up Nunez as the 26th man for Thursday’s doubleheader nightcap.
Nunez was acquired from the Yankees earlier in the month for left-handed pitcher Miguel Sulbaran.
Since being acquired Nunez is hitting .318 with a home run and three RBIs for the Red Wings, while starting at shortstop and third base, according to the Pioneer Press.
The plan would send Nunez back to Rochester in time for Friday’s game.
@EduardoNunez15 will be called up to #mntwins tomorrow as 26th man for second game of DH. Will rejoin @RochRedWings Friday in Syracuse.

While this is just a temporary call up for Nunez, 1500 ESPN’s Derek Wetmore speculates a more permanent call up for Nunez may not be far off.
Despite a triple in Tuesday’s loss to the Blue Jays, shortstop Pedro Florimon continues to struggle at the plate, and Nunez may be able to provide an offensive spark to the Twins infield.
Wednesday’s game was the first game of the season to be postponed at Target Field.
Kyle Gibson is expected to start in the day game Thursday as expected. Mike Pelfrey will start the night game.
