More bad news for the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves as head coach Tom Thibodeau announced Friday that small forward Robert Covington will miss more time as a result of a bone bruise on his right knee.
“He’s going to be out for a while,” Thibodeau said Friday. “Those things are pretty hard to predict in terms of how long. So I don’t want to just guess with it. But he’s out, for right now.”
Covington, a All-NBA First Team defensive player, has been one of the bright spots for the Wolves since arriving in Minnesota as part of the Jimmy Butler trade with Philadelphia. Without him, the Wolves could give more starting minutes to rookie first-round pick Josh Okogie.
The good news for the Wolves is that point guard Jeff Teague is expected to return to the lineup Friday night against Orlando. Teague has missed the last eight games with ankle inflammation.
Six of the next eight games are at home for the Wolves, who have lost nine of 13 overall.
