Tim Lincecum, one of the top prizes of the free agent pitcher crop this offseason, is back with San Francisco, as they came to an agreement on a two-year, $35 million deal today.
Lincecum’s better days may be behind him, but they were really good days, winning two Cy Young Awards while leading San Francisco to a World Series crown in 2010, and aiding in their push to their second title in three years in 2012.
Since his last all-star appearance in 2010, Lincecum is just 20-29 with an ERA approaching five.
The Minnesota Twins, lacking a top end starter, or even a middle of the rotation option, will be in the market for plenty of pitching this offseason.
One dream-scenario option just went off the table.
